Gary why is it a problem if the Russians buy up the coal? They seem to be aiming to corner the market in energy supply, as they already supply huge amounts of gas as we know, and as I understand it they have vast coal reserves already too and oil.
As a nation we seem content to sit back, abandon all our own resources, and seem quite happy to buy supplies from foreign powers. Not the most dependable of strategic plans for the future, as we have seen from the recent Russian-Ukraine gas debacle.
