  Schwerer Panzerspahwagen (Fu) 8-rad or Sd Kfz232 for short! This is a heavy, 8 wheel drive armoured car in it's radio coms variant. It was used on almost every battle front during the war and by all arms of the german forces. Seen here it portays a vehicle from the Deutsches Afrika Korps (DAK) during 1942, it belongs to Motorised Signals Abteilung 200 of the 21st Panzer Division.This is the Tamiya 1/35th model, hand painted with water colours.   Barry, I use Tamiya acrylics, start with a base colour, then add a light 'dirt' wash, dark brown, bit of black or track colour, add wash after wash and build up the dirt slowly. Then dry brush some hard edges with gun metal to show the base metal, finally a very very thin black wash with lots of clean water to allow the thin black to run into all the corners etc, finally, if needed use a very soft pencil to 'rub' away the paintwork, before the water drys I sprinkle the entire model with real sand and dirt and use a blower or puffer brush to get it into the corners. Let it dry over night and blow the excess away with the brush. Tryes get the same treatment and so do crew figures (only with a lighter touch!). I do all this work in an old baking tray, it keeps all the thined paint, the water and the mud in one place!
  A T34/76 next, or maybe a USMC Sherman with wadeing gear next.
