Nay nay!! Perhaps they were all simply chewing the cud - I seem to have strayed into an alternative species there!

John is right to point out that the faffing and ridiculous adherence to "protocols" turns us plebs away from attending council meetings. I remember one (my only one) when I first moved here that turned into an absolute farce of councillors refusing to speak to the "audience" because they didn't word a question correctly or address the right person!! Lay people neither understand nor care about which chain someone is wearing, they just want respect and answers. Customer Care are the buzz words and councils and other local and regional reps will need to heed them if they are to survive!!

Meantime, what can we do about the ridiculous and dangerous situation on the seafront? I don't want to wait for that fatality, as Sid suggests. Perhaps specs for all those responsible? Clearly they cannot see the obvious.
