Yes indeed Jan, its very odd to see bicycles strapped to the mast ( post 160 ). There appears to be two of them. yet he appears to be alone. Perhaps he was going to offer a leg over to one of the local girls on his ride about town..
oh dear! that didnt come out quite right
Anyway all was saved..they didnt go down with the ship!
Yes Martin it was getting close to a RNLI incident at one point, but the guys on the Harbour Patrol launch did a super job..are you one of those Martin??
In Ed's picture there you can see the tugs and they appear to be pinning the ship to the harbour wall in the strong winds which are getting worse as i write. An odd time of year to be going cruising. I got a picture later and here it is..taken from long range though as it had already left the harbour.
It left via the eastern entrance and apeared to be going north to the fjords for a while but then turned around and headed south and straight into the worst of the weather forecast...weather is scheduled to get worse as the day goes on. So..eeeek
!!
Just to the side on the left you can see the tiny by comparison pilot boat.
Anyone for the Bay of Biscay ??
