Gazing over towards the French Coast yesterday I could see how bad it looked. The sky was eternally black..all was gloom. Your tale of events there Ed make it sound grim indeed..you must have hit the forecasted 'Violent Storm 11'. Definitely a day for the battle hardened sailor only. Even those pro type fishermen stayed in the harbour fishing yesterday, their boat remained in harbour.
I still see those camper vans heading out, five or six nestling on the seafront last night waiting for a slot on the ferry.

But speaking of gloom..here is a shot of the LD Lines ferry Norman Spirit heading out into the aformentioned gloom yesterday.

Note the guy standing at the back of ship on the right hand side. Clearly wants to feel at one with nature but it doesnt look too safe standing where he is..nosireee!

Weather is just as grim today. The wind is whistling up me rafters and down me downpipes!..and me waters are gurgling too!
