Here is the latest info from DFDS just in re STRIKE ACTION...

DFDS SEAWAYS - STRIKE ACTION IN FRENCH PORTS LIKELY TO AFFECT CROSS CHANNEL SAILINGS

DFDS Seaways would like to advise customers that industrial strike action is currently planned to take place across French ports from 7am Thursday 28th March to 7am Friday 29th March (UK time). It is therefore likely that many of our DFDS Seaways ferry crossings between Dover-France and Newhaven-Dieppe will be severely disrupted or cancelled.

It is possible that the Dunkirk port may remain open, which should be confirmed by 7pm tonight. If the Dunkirk port remains open, passengers booked on the DFDS Seaways Dover-Calais service will be able to transfer to the Dover- Dunkirk service free of charge, subject to availability. There are up to 24 crossings a day between Dover and Dunkirk and the Dunkirk and Calais ports are approximately a 30 minute drive apart.

The service between Portsmouth and Le Havre should be unaffected by strike action, however sailings between Newhaven and Dieppe will be suspended if strike action goes ahead at the port of Dieppe. In light of this, we are currently investigating the possibility of rerouting our Newhaven-Dieppe service to Le Havre, enabling passengers booked on the Newhaven-Dieppe route to use their tickets on a special Newhaven- Le Havre service instead. The Le Havre and Dieppe ports are approximately an hour's drive apart.

In order to try to minimise disruption to our customers as much as possible, we are also offering any DFDS Seaways passengers booked to travel on affected services the opportunity to travel on alternative services today (Wednesday 27 March), or on sailings from 12pm onwards on Friday March 29th, free of charge, subject to availability.

We apologise to all passengers and freight drivers for any inconvenience that the strike action causes and whilst this is beyond our control, we will do our very best to keep delays and disruption to a minimum during this peak travel time.

We would like to advise all passengers affected by this strike action to check the DFDS Seaways website - www.dfds.co.uk - or call ahead to check travel options with our contact centre before setting off on their journey. The numbers to call areDover - Calais and Dover - Dunkirk 0871 574 7235 and Newhaven - Dieppe 0800 917 1201.
