Good idea to keep to the land Sue..we dont want the Chairman of the District Council dangling and swaying half-way up a ladder out over the water...could have unfortunate consequences if it all went ..ermm.. titzuppp.
Yesterday our oul friend the Pride of Kent moved away from its position at the western docks,..refit all done presumably. It slipped quietly across the harbour and went straight back into action on the Calais run, unimpeded by strikers or anything else ( the strike was called off). Its place at the western docks was then taken by the European Seaways although that one didnt stay there too long.
It seems to have been a quiet Easter so far. The hotels didnt seem too busy judging by the car parking levels, although without access to their books I cant tell for sure! The streets were quiet, although at 10.30pm last night I noticed a double-lane-jam heading for the docks, a late surge, a flurry of continental enthusiasts trying to escape..
Earlier in the day I was fascinated to see below this Cormorant sitting on the beach. Clearly its a Cormorant that thinks its a seagull..as it was languishing there among all the gulls in super cool relaxed style. I tried to get a good picture but was a wee bit beyond the capabilities of my lens to get too much detail...but here we are anyway..
Not a terribly good shot but you get the drift. As I understand it Cormorants usually settle on a high point surveying all opportunities below..so I thought it unusual to see it sitting there amongst all the gulls. There were a lot of gulls doing a bit of beach resting, as they do occasionally.
