But now ....
The spirit of Biggles is alive and well in dear ol' Blighty..
I heard their conversation yesterday and it went something like this.
"Chocks away Spiffy!"
and then with an earnest reply of busting enthusiasm
"Righty-ho skipper!"
Then Biggles himself, with glowing profile, leaned forward, turned the key in the ignition and the propeller began to whirl round.
"Pretty soon we'll be whizzing across the continent to show those blighters!"
Then with leather caps firmly in place, flying jackets trussed up to max, and goggles at the ready...
"Talllly Hoooo !"
and they were off to the Mille Miglia.
"Mind that cross-wind Spiffy!"
"Tally Hooooo !"
and now back to reality
