Following on from the added news and picture on the old doverforum.com frontpage ( see the blogs menu at top of page )... here is the super duper Carnival Legend's departure from Dover on friday evening in a blaze of magnificent sunshine. She will call again a further 8 times this year.
After such a mighty inaugural visit, Kate O'Hara from Dover Harbour Board presented its Captain with a delightful commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.
Dover Cruise Port welcomes Carnival Legend
Kate O'Hara, Head of Business Delivery at the Port of Dover, welcomes the Master of the Carnival Legend, Captain Alessandro Galotto on the ship's inaugural call to the Cruise Port.
The ceremony took place on Friday 21st June providing a brief respite from a busy schedule for the vessel as it set sail on a Northern European tour. The ship embarked on a 12-day Baltic Sea Cruise taking in Copenhagen, Berlin, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, and Bruges before ending its journey back at its home port - Dover.
The Carnival Legend will be visiting Dover a further eight times this year and joins 147 other cruise calls for 2013. The 85,500 tonne ship was built in 2002, carries 2,100 passengers and nearly 1,000 crew.
Kate O'Hara commented, "Dover Cruise Port's commitment is to be the best cruise destination in the world for first-class service and facilities. We continue to support our community through encouraging the cruise tourism business in Kent and we warmly welcome Carnival Legend's staff and passengers to the diverse range of activities and attractions that the region has to offer."

Also visiting us yesterday was the much smaller Quest for Adventure. Note how calm the sea was yesterday, made a change from those recent highly-charged turbulent days. Nearly got seasick in my flat wot with all the rolling..lol!!
For a moment one got a tad confused as this is how she looked last year...
We have had a funnel change.
