Frankly it is not how many seats or crossings we have as the idiocy that sometimes comes out of peoples mouths that worries me!!! And I am not directing this at Sue or anyone specific, but at the babble that emerges from any governmental department, including local government. I am not perturbed that we cannot have another crossing in Pencester, but that someone in authority had so little imagination about the local constituents and their needs - the remark passed about "they should jolly well walk up the road to the crossing" was made with contempt for people with needs, with no respect for local people and with no concept of "difference". You may be - probably are - right about not having another crossing there, but the back-story is that that isn't the point - the point is there are many people who make decisions about our local environment who haven't the real connection with people, the imagination to view around the issues or the will to make appropriate changes. For goodness sake, local bodies cannot even advertise themselves adequately or make themselves known!!!!
