22:5729571My Wifes' Grandfather Ernest Marsh was awarded the B.E.M. for rescuing people from the bombed and burning Burlington Hotel which once stood on the seafront.
He never talked about the war and consequently we know very little about the circumstances in which the medal was awarded.
I wondered whether anybody has any knowledge of what he actually did. I would have liked to have put a picture of the medal on the forum but alas my knowledge of computers is very limited.

00:3629574Thankyou Marek, very interesting, I didn't altogether realise what a important role they had in Dover.
Found the bit about my Wifes' Grandfather but it doesn't say how he got it. I do know that it was something to do with the old Burlington Hotel.
