Just got round to posting and having read through all the above it seems that I was in good company! After leaving Guildford at 1530 we eventually got home at 2200hrs. The drive home was going well until we neared Ashford, then Whiteout! I've never driven in conditions like that before, the snow was coming at us from all angles. I nearly spun on the motorway twice, Saskia managed to help by being positive throughout the journey. We eventually reached the tunnel approaching the Hawkinge turn off around 2000hrs. I think by this stage there was a danger of snow blindness so I left the motorway at Capel, thinking at least the Folkestone Road would be Gritted, Big Mistake! Whilst travelling at around ten miles an hour we didn't see the black ice at Farthingloe, the car spun and how we didn't hit the other cars either abandoned or also spinning out of control was little more than a miracle, it was like 'non-contact dodgems'. We got out of the car dazed and confused and who should appear out of the blizzard but Alison and her friend, he saved the day by turning the car in the right direction to rejoin the A20 for Dover in convoy. We eventually got to our road but the car spun again on black ice, I somehow managed to control it. Whilst I was seeking help from an elderly gentleman the car started to slide down the hill, we got to the car on time before disaster happened, my Guardian Angel reappeared with grit and spade and we thanked him, he vanished and we were on our way (was he real?) Eventually home.
So KCC were prepared....I dont think so. Not gritting the Motorway and Folkestone Road? Someone should be taken to task on this. Its a Disgrace!!!!
That's the Last time I ever venture out in the car when there is even the slightest hint of snow.
