10:5089036The shop at end of this block is not clear but before it was a bookshop recently it was also a cafe, you can see the 'recent' care on google earth.
This photo was taken 1958 on the occasion of the Queen's visit.

16:4189089Fantastic photo Kath, wonderful to see a Highland regiment in Dover, especially so many, you would be hard pressed to do the same for the queen in this day and age (probably a handful of sea cadets is all that we could manage, cuts don't you know)

18:1189105Hooked on Books is a super bookshop, long may it continue. Chris recalls it when it was Toppa's as mentioned above, which she recollects as being Topaz. It was not very upmarket. The criminal courts were across the road in the Town Hall and all the local villains used to collect in the coffee bar when they were appearing there. There was a juke box up the back.
Re #2: Chris worked at Aladdin's Cave many years ago and says it is now the sunbed tanning establishment. Before becoming Aladdin's Cave it used to make and sell rock and was called Andy Amos.
