Shop Smart at SmART Stationery
- 18 September 2009 11:4529129A new advertiser gracing our Members Anchor Page is none other than Smart Stationery who have taken over the premises previously occupied by Cross's in a prime corner position in Castle Street avoiding another great loss to the town and yet another empty shop.
Great timing, providing us with real choice just as our schools re-open after the holidays and students starting and also going back to university. The new owner Peter Wash has also re-employed staff who previously worked for Cross's, so a wealth of knowledge there and further good news is that the shop will be opened on Saturdays.
Peter has worked in Dover all his life and runs a freight forwarding firm in Russell Street. - 18 September 2009 12:4029131Yes good to have the SMART new shop and good to have them advertising with us here. They really slotted into a vacuum after the demise of the Cross store so they bring much needed life to Castle Street. This is a totally homegrown shop, not part of any chain as far as I know, all 100% Dover...so lets hope all us locals support it bigtime.
It is brave opening any new business in these times, although we have seen a few start up in Dover recently, so good luck to them all.

I know David and all at PMC will make good use of the shop. Good to know that you have a local stationery shop when you run out of those essential items at the last minute. Well done to Peter and his staff for opening the shop - I like the shop front colours. Linda H
- 20 September 2009 19:5129194I'm glad really. I never used Crosses a lot, but it was handy for me to pop in from time to time. I'll probably remain a light user I'm afraid (rather than a regular user) but I am glad it's still offering art and office goods.
