HMRC and UK BORDER AGENCY..................
COCAINE SEIZED FROM 'BLACK WATCH' CRUISE PASSENGERS AT SOUTHAMPTON.
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) officers are investigating an attempt to smuggle around one and a half kilos of cocaine into Southampton Docks this morning. UK Border Agency (UKBA) officers seized the drugs from a male passenger disembarking the BLACK WATCH cruise liner.
A man (23) and woman (20), both from Surrey, were arrested at the scene and are currently being interviewed by HMRC criminal investigators. Enquiries are ongoing.
The drugs have an estimated street value of £70,000.
Tim Fleming, HMRC Senior Investigation Officer, said:
"HM Revenue & Customs investigators and their UK Border Agency colleagues are determined to prevent dangerous drugs from reaching the UK's streets. Anyone with information about illegal smuggling activities should call the Customs' Hotline on 0800 59 5000."
