Last week whilst i was away at a well known holiday park i was shocked that during the childrens party hour a christmas song was played to the children telling them that it will soon be upon us, as a parent i was slightly upset that it was obvisiously a advertising of the christmas break as there was also christmas posters being put up but to excite children this early i felt was wrong. What do the other forumites think?
Violence is clearly a last resort but this is exceptional: in this case the holiday park reps should be beaten to within an inch of their lives with holly twigs and then marinated in brandy butter before being slow-roasted on gas 3 with the spuds.
Far too early for Christmas - we still have Halloween to get through.

In fear of being beaten.. it is less than 160 days til christmas. and i have already started my christmas present stitching, going to chosing very carefully- wasted on some people!
So... with regards to the holiday park.. you kinda have to give them a break as they have probably been instructed by the marketing team, who are fearful of missing an opportunity to get you at low season..

Me too, Jenni - but cross-stitch prezzies have to be started in the summer if they're to stand a chance of being completed on time! Mine is coming on really well, though - half done already!
True friends stab you in the front.

From today's Indie:-
Britain may be enjoying a hot summer at the moment, but Selfridges department store in London's Oxford Street is set to open its Christmas shopping section on 2 August, 145 days before the day itself.
Shoppers keen to plan ahead can purchase pre-lit trees, crackers, fairy lights or even a £500 life-size donkey. They can also get into the festive spirit by painting their own baubles. The store said previous sales had shown that some customers, especially overseas tourists, started thinking about Christmas during August.
Last year, Selfridges' festive shop sold more than 1,000 baubles during the first week of trading after opening on 8 August.

Hmmm, maybe Christmas light`s and decorations could come to Dover in August, and leave the opposition standing? Christmas carols on the big screen. Dover, the Selfridges of the south east.

Jenni - I shall soon start my Christmas present stitching, and I like to get some 'standby gifts' put aside all through the year, when I see something appropriate.
It is so much easier then when Christmas comes. And easier on the purse.
But baubles and things in the shops in August - how SAD.

Very sad indeed Kath, and I do hope you saw my post as a jest, as personally, I`ve hated Christmas for a number of years now for whom I thank the big stores and the media who constantly ram it down our throats.

Sorry to break it to you guys, but competition for Christmas Party Venues is rife and from a venue point of view it is never too early to advertise Christmas, in my past life as an Events Manager, I handed out many a Christmas Brochure at Summer Carnivals and Dover Regatta, however I did target adults and not generally children.
