Has anybody tried this practice yet, opposite The Works book shop? It was supposed to open 4th January. If their telephone answering is any indication of their overall suitability to run such a practice I would give them 1/10. I, and others I know, have been contacted by them stating that appointments have had to be changed. If you happen to be available to answer their call, then fine. If you are not, then be prepared to grow many grey hairs. They give you a Dover number to call. When you do you are given 4 options to choose from, all of them with the same message and not one of them putting you through to anyone. You simply get disconnected!! I myself tried this 36 times without success. So then I had an idea. Call them when they are closed to see if they have an answering service. Ah, they did. So I, and others, left a message with our numbers. Guess what. Not one of us ever got a call back!! Off to a practice then who treat people with courtesy and respect, even if they do not do NHS treatment. This practice is part of a large group which seems to have had problems in the past. Sigh.

I went in on Friday morning all the phones were ring in so I had a wait the very nice lady said sorry fo r the wait but she said that there is a wait when phoning because there is so many trying at the same times and she was very sorry to any members on the public trying to get them on the phone ,so I found it best to go down and wait and yes we both got our names on their list but some weeks before we can get our pegs look at
but they very nice now there
but can only talk on the phone one at a time, so better to go in, I am not to go out but as I had to get my blood count done I done that at the same time.

Finally got through to them today. The young female I spoke to thought it was funny that I had been trying to call them for two weeks without ever getting a response. No sorry at all. It turns out that they have not even been given the go ahead by the NHS to open a practice there yet. I was given an appt for Jan 11th three weeks ago. Now I was told the earliest would be June. From Jan11th to June!! I would not be interested in ever having anything to do with such a shoddy outfit and declined her offer. Now to get my money back. Already started that process. One can imagine the amount of clients cash they are sitting on. What were they doing taking it before they even knew if they could open at all. The QCC are also looking into it I hear. In response to Granny Slater...If I could I would enforce the covid rules so blatantly being broken in Dover. One in every three people in Dover have the virus.

I know from personal experience that getting or transferring an NHS contract is very complicated and notoriously slow. When I sold my optical practice the transfer took many months more than the NHS administrators originally advised. My successor and I were tearing our hair out by the end of the process.

From what I have heard from a family member about the NHS and how they operate they are notoriously inefficient. An example being they spent about £1million on a plan to move a facility only to shelve the idea.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Southcliff dental are an absolute sham. They have no right to ask for patients to pay up front for appointments that are months in the future. They claim its company policy or even NHS policy. This is simply NOT true it is not allowed. I just want everyone to be aware of their rights. I have tried complaining to them via phone, email they are usually completely non responsive. I have taken it to the ombudsman and cqc next move will be local MP and CAB. If anyone has any legal advice on this I would be very grateful. If you are unsure about dental ch arges a quick search online will give the relevant info this quote is taken directly from the NHS website
"You should not be asked to pay anything before an assessment of your treatment needs has been carried out"

sORRY BUT I think you have got it wrong sir.I went down there a few weeks ago now, and I was told you should pay anytime up till a day before your appoint ,this is done because of some members of the public are time wasting by booking then not turning up so by a payment up front will stop that, Most do it that way now you do not lose the money it comes off your first vist .It was done this way by the dental we go to now and it cost more then Southcliff but as I said we got it back.thank you.
