  Marks & Spencer celebrate their 125th Anniversary by turning back the clock to 1884 offering 2 Million items at 1p each! From next Wednesday 20th May for 3 Days only, all 300 main stores will house a Penny Bazaar offering 20 products including jewellery, knickers, ties, socks, scarves etc. Shoppers will be limited to 5 items each and M & S say that extra security staff will be drafted in to prevent a crush.
  
  Each penny raised will go to the M & S 125 Charity Challenge which aims to raise £1.25 million for local and regional charities between May and September. Customers will also be given a free peel and reveal card with the chance to win one of 700,000 rewards including 16 regional jackpots of £12,500.
  
  Sir Stuart Rose will be joined by Twiggy when he opens one of the Penny Bazaar's at M & S's London flagship store at Marble Arch at 9.00am on Wednesday. He said "Its been a tough year for us all but people are fed up with being fed up and we wanted to give our customers a real treat"
  
  I guess Dover and Deal are not main stores so we will have go elsewhere possibly Canterbury, Westwood Cross & Ashford, so come on Girls, Break open the Penny Jar and let's have some Bargain Retail Therapy!!!

  Thanks for that Colette, I'm going to be in London next Wednesday (I have a book launch ) so I'll have to stop off at M&S in Marble Arch.

  I would almost swear this one is an april fool joke...is it for real??
  and why are us poor oul sods in Dover missing out. I am a regular customer here in M&S Dover where its not cheap and so I feel Im due a bargain from M&S, but having to drive 20 miles to get your penny bargain would bump the price up considerably...but it looks like the sale of the century though. I just wish they could have it in Dover. But you have to hand it to Marks and Spencer, the benchmark, the stalwart, the anchor stone, of High St UK.
