  i saw an exhibition at the museum of london back in the year 2001, it showed evidence that the speed of traffic was marginally more in 1901 than 2001 in our capital.
  
  i remember when the M25 was being built people saying that traffic would not reach their destination any quicker due to new roads attrracting more traffic.
  
  i thought to myself, how daft is that?
  the north circular(a406) was at bursting point, a brand new motorway running parallel would solve all the problems.
  
  how wrong was i, within a few months of opening the M25 turned into the fastest car park in london.
