I think that increasing cynicism resulting from years of assurances that have been proven to be worthless (in so many areas of our lives) have caused breakthroughs like this to be tempered by the 'where will it all end' viewpoint. The knowledge that this will also be hugely, financially beneficial to the pharmaceutical company does little to eradicate this.
Sadly, any health giving benefits, will almost be lost due to our having suffered so many false dawns.
