Driving up Jubilee Way this morning, I saw that the PYO Strawberries at Broadlees Farm (opposite the main entrance to the Duke of York's School) opened for the first time this season today. £4.00 for 1 Kilo basket, just under £1.00 a pound - and absolutely delicious.....had to stop and get some, and I was their first customer of the season!

Congratulaitions Andy on being the first customer. All sounds delicious. I always thought strawberries were very tasty of course, but with no partiocular food supllemental quality or value, but it seems they are very good in the fight against cancer. Thought I would throw that in... this being a 'no smoking saves you from heart attack' kind of morning.

The White Mill farm shop Nr Sandwich has been selling local strawberries for about 3 weeks now, possibly originating from the poly tunnels at Thanet, a nice taste of Summer.

Howard perhaps Andy is including the 2 pound he ate while picking the rest

martin makes a valid point, this farm complained last summer that a lot of their customers worked on the "one in the punnet, one in the mouth" repeat 30 times school of picking.
andy, maybe your maths was correct?
