10:0632978In my opinion they are a terrible thing especially the tanning salons that let young girls (sometimes as young as 11 or 12) use them. They become addictive to these girls and they end up tanning several times a week because they are conditioned to the fact that they only look good with a tan. They don't think that prolonged exposure to the UV rays increases the risk of developing malignant melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer and also that it also causes premature aging. Nowadays if you want a tan you can do it safely with any number of fake tans on the market.
Sunbeds - just say no!

14:2432984Not natural, but then these days, how much is, and how many people really care? Certainly the shop owner doesn`t.

18:2033004i always think these tans look rather silly in the middle of winter in england.
i suppose that if it gives someone a morale boost it must be worth it to them to pay out .

19:5433017But sadly a lot of it is now what young girls have become conditioned to, looking like celebrities and suffering from low self esteem because they don't match the perfect (airbrushed to within an inch of their lives) models or singers etc. There is so much rubbish in magazines and on TV which only adds fuel to the fire, these images are not real, they are created and no one can look like that in real life. Young girls often don't think beyond getting their next top up on a sunbed to what they could potentially be doing to endanger their lives by contracting a skin cancer in years to come. This is one thing I get on my soap box about regularly working as young peoples Agony Aunt.

20:0933019I go along with all of that Jeane. Perhaps I`ll just replace the word `celebrities`, with cardboard cutouts.
