Must admit ..Yes I am..she keeps me..I was going to say young but run off my feet is a better description. As you know Sid (being an old Carnival hand even tho' Vic thinks you sit on your ar5e all day) she really enjoyed being Miss Junior Princess in Dover a couple of years ago...Mandie was great with all the court.Marek

4 July 2010 21:2859114Lovely photo of Natascha and Gorey castle Marek. I spent a very interesting day in the castle in the late 60's whilst on holiday in Jersey. Not as grand as Dover castle but still there were some interesting exhibits explaining the history of the place. Some great watering holes underneath the castle as well.
I stayed at the Jubilee pub in St. Helier in which had some decent bedrooms above. I got off the ferry from Weymouth and asked a taxi driver if he knew of any cheap and cheeerful digs and he took me there. Do you know if it is still there ? it stood opposite a small greeen if my memory serves me.
I first went to Jersey in 1960 on a small coaster running from Manchester and Liverpool to Guernsey, Jersey, Rouen and Paris. Very nice in the summer but not too great in the winter. We used to drink in the Pomme d'Or and Southampton bar right on the harbour and some further up the town which I can't remember.
That's when I fell in love with the place and I vowed I would go back for a holiday. - 4 July 2010 21:3059115is it a patch on your usual greek watering holes alec?

I will check and find out if the Jubilee pub. I don't recall it on my recent trips to the 'city' as the locals call it but will do some research and report back.
By the way Alec I wasn't in any offended by your comments on Filipino workers.Can't remember the thread but basically what happens is someone is granted entry as a HSMWP and their spouses and kids are allowed to join them.The spouse is able to work and as less qualified normally ends up in menial type work.So thats why you see them as cleaners or tea persons.

Love Jersey, beautiful place - winter or summer.
Worked there for Natwest on two separate occasions, back in the winter of 1980, then summer 1981.
Always wanted to go back, but for various reasons/excuses never did; made some great friends there, some visited me in England over the years.
Love to go back and Manston makes it so much easier.
