    Diana - go to the tax office and ask for an A19, Extra Statutory Concession.

    Basically tell them to swing for it, their fault.

    By the way - retiring is OK, go for it, but make sure you get some good advice before and after you so so. You might end up with your tax allowances spread over several sources of income and you do need to check up on it.
