So Teletext news is finally going forever. I recently heard it described as being "the internet if it was from a pound shop", but let's face it, Teletext was a 35-year success story which, like so many things, was killed by fragmented media services across vastly increasing numbers of channels and the world wide web. It made me think - when did I last use the service? I honestly cannot remember, it must be a good ten years since I used it as I've been so into the web.
Does anyone else still use it? When was the last time you did?

21:1434952The last time I used Teletext was when I got a new TV a couple of years ago and accidentally pressed the Teletext button on the remote. As I never read instruction booklets (lol) I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it and had to wait until my husband got home!
It used to be the thing for checking the football scores and booking cheap holidays in its day but yes the internet has taken over.

23:0034958i have to admit that i am a teletext addict, i switch on the tv, usually bored within 5 minutes and go for the teletext button, for instant news headlines or as jeane stated "football scores".
only ITV and channel 4 have gone down, bbc and sky are still going.
the internet does not do it for me, one has to wade through so much dross to find any useful info.

02:0734965Can't remember the last time I used it either! With 24/7 news channels available on satellite and cable as well as programme information available via whatever box you have it would seem that Teletext has outlived its usefullnes. Once the analogue TV services have gone then there won't be any need for it at all and the BBC can divert our licence fee money into something more useful.

10:3834970I havent used it in years, but for many years as most agree, very useful.
Maybe its right now the BBC should divert fee's elsewhere, as long as its not to Johnny Ross's wage packet!!

13:4734976I still use Teletext as well for a quick run down on the headlines both National and Local, then check the BBC & DT internet sites for the full story.

17:1634983I use Teletext all the time - news headlines and items mostly. I don't like TV much, but liked the quick access to the news.
