I have read he is now a free man and can go anywhere even the U.K. he should still be behind bars, for the rest of his life.

Actually Vic he can't go anywhere he likes without first informing his local police station. He will have to sign a register and will have frequent visits from the law and other agencies. As much as I despise the man he still has certain rights and that is what makes this country so much better than others.Hitler and Stalin adopted your approach to dealing with ''perverts, homosexuals and the like'' surely you are not advocating that type of regime.
Slightly off the point but still relevant I travel to the far east fairly frequently and one has to be on the look out for 'cries of wolf'.I adhere to a strict policy no birds back to the rooms that includes chamber maids whatever.A typical ploy is for a lady to knock on your hotel door claim that she had been there a a few days ago with another foreigner and had lost an item of jewellery. She enters the room looking around then goes into the bathroom in search of said item...she disrobes and screams and within seconds the police barge through the door(having been part of the scam) and make an arrest...then its a question of either paying a bribe or claiming innocence and having your photo flashed around the news world. So although I am in no way defending or condoning GG we should all take a step back before casting the first stone. If you read certain travel guides they advise you what the local scam of the day is.

Press release
Disgraced singer Gary Glitter will be met by police on his return to the UK next week.
The convicted child molester will be released from jail in Vietnam on Tuesday and flown to London, his lawyer said.
Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, was sentenced to three years in prison by a Vietnamese court in March 2006. When he lands in the UK, Glitter will be interviewed by the police and required to sign the sex offenders' register, Home Office sources said.
He will then have to tell police where he intends to live and notify them if he moves. He may also be monitored by police and the probation service under Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).
Vic as previously stated although free GG still has a number of restrictions placed upon him.

It was also reported that he did not wish to return here but Vietnam insists on deporting people back to their home countries, no matter what trouble they may be in there. Not really a bad idea.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
