Well, any "supporters" that missed last nights game at Ebbsfleet really missed out on a footballing treat. The Dover team did us proud and you could not spot a weak link in any part of the team or their overall style of play. It`s no exaggeration to say that the 2-0 scoreline flattered the opposition, it so easily could have been five or six and don`t forget last season they were in the Conference and a full-time team..
The comments below have been taken from the Ebbsfleet Fans Forum and simply illustrate how good we were.
We were given some basic lessons tonight:
1. How to win the ball in midfield.
2. How to be direct with the ball upfront.
3. How to finish.
4. How to play the ball on the ground.
5. How to play for each other.
6. How to do the simple things well.
Dover look a settled team and should be capable of competing for a top place on tonights evidence of play.
The Fleet have much work to do
The relatively poor Dover home performances I think, simply reflect the fans high expectations. If, for whatever reason, the team don`t play as well as they can they soon sense the fans frustration and lack of patience which, in turn, starts affecting confidence and when you lose that you then have an uphill struggle to get the result and performance you want.
So give this team time and I`m sure they`ll reward us supporters.
