Speaking as an ex Dovorian, I'm always saddened to walk pass the 'Alma' on my frequent trips to the town! During the late '60s and through the '70s my pals and myself would use the 'Golden Lion' as our base (when the Chivers family were landlords), and our short nightly pub crawl took us to the 'Alma' via the 'Red Cow' (junction of Folkestone Rd and Priory Place then return to another pub almost on the north corner of Military Hill ' Priory Place, thence back the 'Lion' to await our nightly 'Ginger' Dean taxi home, I seem to recollect that there was another on the south side of Military Hill as well - cannot think of the name - Happy Days!!!
