    Out of curosity I've just been for a walk along Salisbury Road and down Albert Road. Two more roads scarred by these hideous bins. Some properties in Salisbury Road have eight bins outside. Albert Road, most are still on the pavement as there is nowhere else to put them in a lot of cases. This really is getting very very silly.

    Good point about blue bags for paper. The blue bag is a lot easier to lift as it has handles. You have to bend to lift the box which isn't good for your back and it can be quite heavy with two weeks worth of paper in it. Doesn't worry me too much at the moment but for an infirm person I image it could be quite difficult to lift, with the result that they're likely to leave it outside which means the paper is likely to blow everywhere littering the street. You could put that to them as well.
