Ray (Plucking man) Newsam, he from beyond normal civilisation, has been quiet of late. However, he did email me yesterday.
"I'm still following the bin saga on the forum, confusion reigns! Having been in the new system for nearly three months now I think I'm a bit of an expert so here's my experience if you want to pass it on -
The green boxes on the calendar are for green recycling if you have it - it doesn't say this in the notes or on the web in so many words as some people still won't get green recycling and so might get confused/jealous, you just have to assume that's how it works and smile when it gets taken away on a green day.
If you're on bags not bins you get allowed either two or four bags per fortnight (depending who you get info from!) for general rubbish (either of which presumably equates to the volume of a wheelie bin) but if you're on holiday and miss a collection you can't put out double for the next collection. We've just had a new roll of purple bags appear on the doorstep overnight although not halfway through the first roll yet.
If the black box now used for paper/card is full, you can still use the old blue bag and it gets taken away but no new ones will be issued.
The only bin collected every week is the food waste and that seems to a separate lorry.
If you think about it it's no wonder there's confusion at present with the various schemes -
The old scheme with green recycling
The old scheme without green recycling
The new scheme with bins and green recycling
The new scheme with bins without green recycling
The new scheme with purple bags and green recycling
The new scheme with purple bags and without green recycling
feel free to copy the above onto the forum if you want,
Cheers
Ray
