In the end though, I know it gives some people a feeling that they are "doing their bit for the environment" or "helping to save the planet" but in the end it still leaves us all the poorer in terms of our quality of life.
Let's face it, like wind turbines, these bins are a blight pure and simple. They add nothing to our lives in fact they just make the streets of our town look damned ugly.
Face up to it they actually contribute more to global emissions of carbon dioxide (if you worry about such trifling things) and clutter the streets. There is no plus side to these things, none whatsoever.
It merely gives rise to more pointless local government jobs, which in these days of cutbacks, we can ill afford.
