The new exhibition 'Beyond the Horizon' opened today in Dover Museum. It celebrates the cross-channel connections of 3,500 years ago, when our part of Kent probably had far more in common with communities on the other side of the channel than with most of the rest of Britain. The exhibition includes finds from Kent, France and Belgium, including some incredible pieces of Bronze Age 'bling', some of it seldom seen on public display before. The exhibition is open until December, so if you need an excuse to revisit Dover Museum, this is a good one!
On a related topic, the half-scale replica is back on the Roman Lawn next to the discovery centre and Canterbury Archaeological Trust have launched an appeal for funds to strip it down, sew it back together and take it to sea.
