    Hi Jan, good questions. We are trying to be as close to authentic as possible with this. The original boat was in an incredible state of preservation, and so we know that they sealed the joints with beeswax and several types of moss (some of which appears to have come from as far afield as Cornwall). Because the boat has been in a very dry environment whilst on display in the exhibition in France and Belgium, some of the seams have now completely dried out and there are some big gaps visible. So unfortunately it does need to be completely stripped down and put back together with fresh moss and wax.

    They didn't use things like tar or old ropes on the original, so we are trying to avoid anything like that. The experts (and when it comes to making boats watertight I'm certainly not one!) assure me they can do it this time. The Dovorians of 3500 years ago could do it, so hopefully so can we!
