Pleased to say that our online fundraising campaign has successfully concluded. Our minimum target was £5000 (if we hadn't reached that we'd have got nothing). In the end we raised £6681 from 124 generous people. We've also raised some cash donations (including some at the regatta) and have pledges of further support from some organisations, meaning we are well on the way to the £15,000 or so we need to get the boat replica to see.

So, we are going to go ahead and get the boat seaworthy. Work will start on the replica on the Roman Lawn on Monday 19th August, and we hope to get the boat to sea in the first week or two of September. Time Team will be filming it all as they are making a one-off special episode on the replica project. I'll keep you posted!

Also, don't forget the 'Beyond the Horizon' exhibition is on in Dover Museum until December; well worth a visit. I'll be giving a lecture in the museum on the evening of Thursday 22nd August, at 7pm, about some of the stories behind the finds in that exhibition. All welcome.
