Harry I was waiting for some one to take me up on this one,it is geting late now so will post again on it at the weekend ,just to tell you that you are right to say the Royal Scots were 1st a foot, but the Buffs is a much older Regiment. by about 60yrs
This disagreement has been going on for over 300yrs the Buffs Regiment was founed in Denmark not in the U.K. to look after their royal family that is why the king of Denmark was their Col/in /Chief,but it was a U.K. regiment but because it was not founded in the U.K. they were made 2nd a foot.but take in from me the the buffs were the most senior foot regiment and as a old buff like the rest we say we were the 1st a foot.
So there you have it mate, but thank you for your post on it.It has been and still is a much talked about at the reunion dinners.
