The gentleman in green picured above at yesterday`s event in Pencester Garden`s, is Tom Reid from the Environment Agency. He know`s Ian on the forum, and all the hard work he`s done over the year`s in keeping the river clean, and free from rubbish.Tom gave me an extremely interesting lecture on the biodiversity of the river, with picture`s of the larvae which young fish feed on, together with weeds which the larvae themselves feed on. He took me over to the river and pointed out the various plants, together with a boulder in the centre of the river, all of which goes to creating a much needed current flow in order to keep the riverbed clean and clear of debris, vital for the fish to lay their eggs. Regarding clearing rubbish from the river, November to March is a big no no, as this is the time that the fish lay their eggs, and walking about on the riverbed could destroy it all. At other times with rubbish removal, it would be down to the E.A. if you were seen, but in Tom`s view, if it was obvious as to what you were doing, and the rubbish was removed and disposed of correctly, he really didn`t see a problem. Tom read`s the forum, and if you`re reading this mate, hope I`ve got it all right above. Thanks again for yesterday, and I hope Ian get`s the result he`s looking for, and I can join him.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.
