    Oh well, if we're talking about public honour and recognition, what about all the childcarers?

    Generally speaking, I would suggest we're still far more focussed around public occupation ie and eg jobs, in terms of defining both identity and worth of the individual (including financial). But ... if there are any rewards or bonuses going, then, I reckon it should be to those who are dedicated to and successful in bringing up our new citizens as integrated, balanced, and responsible parts of a considerate society.

    Now there's a really difficult and at the same time much undervalued job, if ever there was one! Yet, strangely, a little further down the line, it's one that becomes the focus of much public angst and intervention in terms of how we fix the problems "caused" by "bad" parenting.
