  Local mayor; councils do recognise in different ways people who well for the communty
  
  Also every year awards are given out at the winter gardens Margate for localpeople who have done A LOT to get through life who may suffere from serious life threatening disease but still not complaining, or as a carer
  
  many others as well
  
  So it does happen.
  
  
  On the National awards yes they are a farce(well those that vic mentions) but i have raised this before, on another thread.
  If we are hgoing to give out OBE's MBE's etc it should not be because of someone you know!
  Iv been in the position where an award(MBE)was given to someone but he knew who to talk to to make it happen
  others in the same walk of life who would have been far more justified in getting the award but would just do the voluntary job for love not look for recognition.
  Although these people wouldnt complain, it was clear that again it puts the awards in doubt as to how they are achieved.it opened my eyes!!!
