Alexander - here is THE STORY of the Jackdaw !
"New Romney March 5 - there is now in the possession of Mr John WILES of New Romney, blacksmith, a Jack Daw which has been brought up and familiarised with the family, from the nest. To the youngest daughter of Mr W. this bird has become singularly attached, and having its perfect wing it follows her to any part of the town, sometimes on the wing and at other times by her side like a dog - if anyone feins to molest her it will use its feeble efforts with its beak to her protection - the affectionate bird almost daily follows her to the Ladies' Boarding and Day School, nearly a quarter mile distant and will no doubt become a pupil, but for the objection of her being too talkative; she therefore waits with patience on the cill of the window without, until her favourite is released and then escorts her home."
