15:275631The new Merchant Seaman statue looks fantastic.
What a brilliant and totally appropriate addition to our lovely seafront. Excellent stuff.

09:585643I couldn't agree more, Andy. It's a lovely statue, and with lots of explanatory writing on the plinth. It's right next to the Norwegian flowerbed, too (I was hearing yesterday some amazing stories of their seamen, during WWII).
Winston Spencer Churchill, in his unveiling speech, said that the new memorial is a worthy addition to the trophies in this town, which has stood constantly in the path of every invader.
Dear old Dover. A wonderful town, with wonderful people. This was a proud day. Well done, Don Hunter, and all who backed him.

20:335661Don Hunter is a fantastic chap, completely dedicated but will not hear of any praise. I think he has done a brilliant job and has given Dover a statue it can be proud of
