Brown is currently adopting a burnt earth strategy towards the election so indeed in many ways it will be a poisoned chalice. Some difficult decisions will have to be made but, on the other hand, it does present also a great opportunity to re-shape this country and make a huge reduction in the role/power/size of Government. Time to end Labour bloated beaurocratic monstrosity of a State machine and let people stand on their own two feet and take responsibility for themselves and their actions.
