Yes its already time to be thinking of this.
We have booked Pencester for the weekend of the 25th and 26th June 2011.
This is Armed Forces Day itself and we will be seeking funding accordingly. We need some help though:
1/ We want to involve more cadet troops, the Army Cadets and Sea Cadets - if anyone has any contacts with these please ket me have them.
2/ If we get AFD funding we will want to do veteran medal presentations so details of any veterans who you know would be appreciated.
Most importantly:
3/ We are all very self critical and are yet to have our 'wash-up' meeting but nevertheless are well aware of key areas in which we need to improve.
As all of us on the committee are very busy people this event only takes place because each person has their own area of responsibility, know their job, get on with it and drive their part of the organisation forward.
But there are two key areas in which we do not do well, simply because we dont have individuals on the committee with specific responsibilities for them, so these get 'left behind' and do not receive all the attention they deserve. We would like to fill these two gaps so we can improve performance in them, these are, marketing and (non-grant) fund raising. You are not just given a brief and told to get on with it, the rest of the committee support and help, we do all work as a team.
We are looking for volunteers for those two roles, so if any of you like the idea of gettting involved in this great event, or know someone who might be good for one of the roles, please let me know.

certainly planning well ahead barry, i doubt whether you can improve on the event itself.
i am afraid i do not have any marketing or fund raising experience, there must be someone on the forum that has these capabilties.
i do know the sea cadet leaders barry. Want me to have a word?

Please Melissa...
Barry
As we are due another exciting election next year could I advise that any application to DTC for funding should be made asap since from the new year there will be "uncertain progress" on grants.

Thank you for your advice David. I have indeed discussed just that with our treasurer.

Don`t forget the tank next year Barry if you can find one. I`m ringing round different mates of mine if they`ve got one, one of whom has asked if there`s still an amnesty in place for dangerous weapon`s!
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

Well the coverage was better than what went before the event!
The Mercury did well, the certainly watch this forum....
Colin - find us a tank mate!!! We will then worry about how to stop it churning up the park....
Barry if you get a tank, speak to Martin Husk of Coombe Valley Transport. He has or can get special "plates" to put down to protect the ground fro mthe wheels of heavy vehicles.
