Well, all the excuses are in a fortnight before a blank-is-fired-in-earnest. What 'we' ever expected to get out of it will be all in a muddle as the Government has changed since the big-sell was presented. Bodge-Job is the only one that has been there throughout, he is no doubt impressing on all involved the importance of a job well done.
I, for one, will not weep if there is a modicum of disruption, but let us hope that nobody gets hurt.

It bores me stiff but I hope it is a great success. I will not watch a moment of it but do have some tickets to Dover's Inward Investment Event so I will sample the events of Wednesday on the seafront.
Interesting that some seem to be hoping for it to in some way fail, as a way to dig at the government. A bit desperate that.

Yes Barry, as usual people see it as an opportunity for politial point scoring, forgetting who won and negotiated the whole thing.
I just think its a colossal waste of taxpayers money

re; 8
is taxpayers money being spent here?
i haven't followed things closely but when we were first handed the games we were told that lottery money would be used and the rest coming from corporate sponsorship and ticket sales.

Of course its taxpayers money howard, the original budget has gone up 3 or 4 fold, its proof again that govt is useless

I did see some news on the Olympic v lottery front. Not only has the take bitten into present funding, but the promised re-assigning of these funds is to be much delayed. (the Government had promised to refund the lottery funding people from sales of the flats etc. on the Olympic site)
