  we all know about the head honcho of bp reaching an agreement that leaves him at least 11 million quid better off and getting another job in the organisation.
  
  the value of the company is a lot lower than when he took over and the share prices have plumetted.
  
  some good jobs still going around.

  I wonder to what extent he is just the scapegoat and may well have been unfairly targeted. That said I have not been overly impressed by what I have seen of him.

  he may well be a scapegoat, but he was paid enough to warrant it.
  
  i cannot imagine how a man with his total lack of communication skills got to that position.
  
  the biggest losers will be many pension funds that have shares in the company.

  He would have been aware of the risks and that was why the rewards were high. In fact, the company was doing fine - at the least! - before the accident and he was in charge then as well...............it is simply his poor reading of the public mood and his less than exceptional communication skills that have moved him on. He'll be back!

  quite right bern.
  
  when he came out with statements along the lines of "it is a big sea and not much oil" and stuff like that when people were losing their livelihoods staggered me.
  
  he then goes on to cowes for a high profile yacht race.
  
  if he needed a few days to unwind then go somewhere quiet where the cameras would not catch him.
