  Thats the problem Sid - Labour have made the north more dependant upon the public sector and ignored the private sector. Because they are now so disproportionally public sector dependant they will be hit a lot worse by the cuts. It is necessary to counter the disproportionate impact spending cuts will have on the north. This is aside and apart from issues of deprivation and should be looked at as a seperate matter. The important thing is what shape this aid will take, it must be geared to levering them off public sector dependance.
