The River

  Don't worry I'm not going into a rant and rave.
  
  It was mentioned to me a few years ago that the car park at the old B&Q site would be opened up to the river again.
  Low and behold the work team for the new Morrisons are doing just that.
  I took a long look the other day and they have opened up the first 150 yards or so to reveal the original back walls and are in the process of cleaning it all to it's proper state.
  I should imagine that once it is complete they will put a bridge over it, how much they intend to open up I don't know.
  
  Any one else seen this work?

  No. Have a look tomorrow Ian. Any improvement to the river has got to be good.

  Be interesting to know what their intentions are, wouldn't it Ian ?

  Thought it was to good to be true.
  I passed there yesterday afternoon and spoke to one of the contractors.
  They dug the car park up to make repairs, once done the river will be covered over again.

  Here are a couple of pics from yesterday of the old stone wall that has been unearthed during the construction of the new culvert. This probably hasn't been seen since Dover Engineering Works was built, and who knows when it'll be seen again?

  Thanks for putting up the pictures Phil, it will be a shame to cover it up again, it would probably enhance the area - Picnic with Morrisons

  It is indeed a massive pity that they couldn't build a bridge for traffic and leave the majority of the river there exposed. I wonder if any one asked Morrisons to do that.
