The River Scarecrow Trail 2008
- 5 July 2008 07:113694Well it is here today and Sunday 10am to 3pm today, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
And the Scarecrow dance at the Mill tonight and that is free. There are to starting points, The Corn Mill and the V/Hall. I have been out this morning with some posters and doing my own Scarecrows I hope to see you all at sometime over the weekend have a good weekend and the great Carnival as well,as this is my last event which I am helping put on I hope the weather s good.
Thank youVic Matcham - 5 July 2008 13:013712Well it is 1300hrs the sun is out and lots walking round River, there is over 170 Scarecrows to see get your map and off you go on the Trail of the Scarecrow the press are out here to so you will see it in your local next week.

- 5 July 2008 20:283722Well the first day has gone really well.I have not seen all the scarecrows hope to cover the course tomorrowIf you havent ventured out to see the traill make it a must for tomorrow.
- 6 July 2008 09:313745Day 2 of the River Scarecrow trail Saturday was very good still familys going around at 1800hrs, we have been aske to put it on again next year the plan was Wingham one year and RIVER THE next but we will have to see. As you know this is my last day of doing events over the years I have worked with some great folk and we have had some good times but time moves on and working with very good committee with the Scarecrow event is a good way to bring it all to a end for me.
River community and the River Council are a very helpfull,and support when things are put on.

- 6 July 2008 22:113772Congratulations Vic, as I understand it the Scarecrow trail was your idea in the first place and the River Parish Council events committee helped to carry the idea through.
It has been great to see young and old a like going around the village on the scarecrow trail. People with a smile on their face, people chatting to each other, what more can you ask. Good clean fun and laughter
all brought about by a simple idea which was carried through by a few people who did it for River, for Dover and even better in aid of the Kent Air Ambulance.
Great fun well done to Vic and the Parish Council Events Committee.
I hope Vic you stick with this one, it really has been a winner and I am sure next year it will become even better, now a lot more people know what it's about. - 7 July 2008 20:213807Harry.
Thank you for that but it was a very good team to work with, we all had ideas what we should do and we put them all in one bag and worked on all of them. And it is a big thank you all of them I was not the chairman, but we did have a very good one in the chair.
Yes there will be more but that was my last one
