Whilst visiting my parent's graves at St Pancras and Islington Cemetery London yesterday I came across this lovely memorial. A monument for William French who lost his life in 1896 whilst saving a dog from drowning in Highgate ponds. The dog survived and this statue was erected in honour of his heroic deed. Sad but beautiful.
