  I think that Hancock said 'Magna Carta will be turning in her grave'. There are surely some aspects of these laws that are for the common good though, the ones that address anti-social behaviour and domestic violence for example.

  But not necessarily the best way to deal with the problem.
  
  Now passing legislation that would restore the good old clip around the ear for anti-social youngsters from our friendly local bobby, that would do the trick!
