I thought they`d be a couple of threads on this? Nothing exciting to talk about, or was it all what was expected?
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

Best bit was Harriet giving the Libs some real stick!
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
Budgets, like the red briefcase, are a bit past it for most people. No real surprises, just some figures to juggle and manipulate. We are a bit out of love with MPs and politics, sadly.

right there with no surprises, i switched on when georgie boy had just finished, ms harman immediately rose to her feet and read out her criticisms.
seems to me just a game, clearly she had all the information beforehand, so she could then ham it up in the commons.
I've heard that Harriet likes a bit of stick. Usually across the, whoa best stop there eh?

As a low grade public sector worker in a front-line agency, I, and most of my colleagues, would be perfectly happy to accept a pay freeze if it safeguarded our jobs. However, it is probably not going to happen.

My blog commentary on the budget is up just in case someone didn't notice.

barry
after reading bits and pieces about the budget the premier comfirmed my thoughts that he is an old fashioned one nation tory.
vat no surprise, the axing of handouts to the better off, the raising of the income tax threshold, not sure about how the public sector cuts will impact yet.
there were a couple of silly points from george, firstly about all incapacity claimants assessed before 2103, they have been for over 3 years now. secondly the one about single parents having to look for work once their child is of school age.
what employer would like to engage someone who could only work at most 9.30 am until 2.30 pm 35 weeks of the year?
add to that when things get busy the school rings up to say that jordan has grazed her knee or wayne has slaughtered the school stick insects?
Howard, what evidence is there to support your cynical accusation against poor misunderstood Wayne? He's a nice boy really who just needs the right kind of attention to stop him ending up in Broadmoor as child killing pervert.

it could all be down to not being breast fed, not an expert on the subject though.

Correct me if I am wrong but did not the Conservatives all through the last Labour Government tag Labour as the party of Taxation?

Indeed Harry but sadly the Labour legacy is truly appalling and tax rises are needed to help correct the damage and help balance the nation's books. At least its being done openly and not by stealth.
The Conservatives remain the Party of low taxation and fiscal responsibility but right now the fiscal responsibility has to come before low taxation.
See my blog - there is hope and a chance that taxes can start to be reduced again in 2014 from the charts/forecasts being made.
